"Into the Woods in Connecticut"
A modernist and eclecticist by inclination my client, a bachelor was an avid traveler. He shopped as well as explored. The purchases become key to the design choice for the house. He liked my Jungle living room published in Architectural Digest. We interpreted this concept resulting in his media room which made the cover of Interior Design Magazine. The modern living room with Memphis influences feels like a tree house with the forested treetop view. Seating of modern Italian design complements the Dakota Jackson bar cabinet also in the Memphis manner. The Dining room was based on a restaurant I had designed with painted tromp l’oeil ruins on the walls. The eccentrically angled glass bay windows bring the forest canopy into the room while a high tech Italian light fixture hovers like a setting sun above the table.
