"Lofty Space on the West Side"

Description:
My clients chose to move from a luxurious space on Central Park West to an industrial building near the West Side Highway. "It was time to re-invent ourselves" she quipped. The request was to create an interior with the warmth, comfort and refinement they had left. "The one thing I don't want is a white box loft" she stressed. The wonderful industrial metal windows, though covered with 80 years of accumulated old paint were stripped to the bare metal and restored. Color and texture is an essential ingredient for our client who is in the fashion industry. We installed reclaimed industrial flooring to complement the nature of the space, while a satiny stainless Boffi kitchen adds sparkle and depth with a lux surface. Venetian plaster walls and a leather covered media and library unit which separates the sleeping quarters from the main living space add warmth. I designed the coffee table and the carved stone console hoding the Buddah as well as the dining table finished in platinum linnen. A Byzantine era sink carved of a single slab of marble found in Turkey was refitted and mounted on a pair of crystal legs always causing surprise and comment.
