Designed for a former New Yorker who is in the city in the fall, the interior references the glamour of the Art Deco period. Artist John Palmer Smith captured a nostalgic fantasy mood of the East River in the foyer of this Fifth Avenue apartment. Contemporary custom seating was designed to complement the classic period furnishings. An 18th Century Coromandel screen fronted by the bust of Heracles from classical Greek antiquity, a Chagall tapestry and a Calder mobile add drama. The bedroom, dressing room and walk in closet mill work finish was inspired by a blue and gilt French interior at the Metropolitan Museum.
